Edwin Jebb

Edwin Jebb is a member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation near The Pas, Manitoba, who has spent a life-time promoting education and healthy living in northern Manitoba. As a former school trustee, director of education and currently chancellor of University College of the North in Thompson, Manitoba, he has merited an Order of Manitoba membership and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2012.

Beaverly Wahl

Beverley Wahl is Principal of R.B. Russell High School, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The inner-city high school has about five hundred students, approximately 85% of whom are Indigenous and live in the neighbourhood. A wide variety of vocational programs are offered: advertising art, building construction, child care, culinary arts, graphic arts, hairstyling, healthcare, horticulture. metal fabrication and welding, music technology and pre-industry training.  The school prides itself on the creativity of its students, its involvement in the community and its awareness of an Indigenous perspective in all aspects from course content, assembly happenings, and extra-curricular activities.

Russell High School study a variety of vocational programs and demonstrate an amazing creativity. The multi-disciplines involved in designing and building a Roundhouse with Indigenous symbols and colors and its setting on the school-grounds surrounded by community gardens show-case the involvement of many students.
